What is the first thing you do when you are trying to find a new business or service?
Google?
Yelp?
A social media search?
This is why building an online presence for our businesses is so important.
Since most of us don’t have an actual store front with foot traffic our online presence is our storefront. We need our potential clients to learn about us and our services.
Here are 3 essential tips for building a strong online presence for your business.
Before you start thinking about how to display your products and services, let’s look at where you should create content and what would be more beneficial to your business needs.
First, assess whether you need a website or landing page.
Creating a website is a great way to tell your business story, share values, and improve search engine optimization efforts to get more eyes on your content.
A landing page is useful for fulfilling the goals of a specific product, promotion, marketing campaign or call to action. A landing page can be a simple way to catch a consumer’s attention whereas a website can answer all of the questions and provide all the information a potential consumer may need before hitting that checkout button!
Next, we can talk about putting the plan into action and how to effectively create content for your business to gain visibility.
Are you utilizing social media effectively?
One of my favorite reasons for marketing on social channels is because it is absolutely free! This makes it a great outlet to put your services out into the world and gain brand awareness.
One tip I give to my mentees is to start out marketing on one social platform and master it before you move onto others.
I know what you’re thinking….”Why wouldn’t I take advantage of all of the platforms so I can get more traction?”
Truth is- showing up consistently and presenting value on one platform can be time consuming. What are the chances of effectively marketing on every social channel while providing max value and creating content for all of them while also running your business? Honestly, not great.
You don’t have to be in all the places to hit your goals. Pick one platform and do it well. You can thank me later.
Just showing up and making a presence on social media is huge, however social media marketing isn’t a ‘post it and leave’ type of strategy. Gone are the days we can post a pretty graphic and clients will come knocking.
Instead, you have to put yourself out there and show your community who you are and what you provide while also engaging with them! Your potential clients want to know the person behind the brand, not just the services you offer.
