When I first began my business I had so many emotions going through my mind. It was exciting to know that there was a way for me to contribute to my family and break free from the traditional in-office 9-5pm schedule.
BUT how was I going to juggle it all: motherhood, being a business owner and learning new skills all while having now childcare for my two babies at home.
It wasn’t always rainbows and butterflies but the outcome has been so rewarding!
As you know, I did work with a coach and could not recommend it more but the decision to get the help I needed didn’t come easily to me.
So here are 3 questions to ask yourself to decide whether to work with a mentor or coach.
Is fear holding me back?
Investing in your business can be hard and super scary…
If you’re like me you have a number of concerns:
- My business isn’t big enough for this investment
- Is my business truly a business
- If I get X amount of clients I will get the support I need
- They won’t know enough of my exact business to help
- What if I get nothing out of this investment
These are concerns that most small business owners have when making an investment in their business and it’s totally normal. You wouldn’t be a proper business owner if you didn’t weigh the pros and cons first, but don’t let fear hold you back. I entered a point in my business where I finally decided that nothing can hinder me more than not taking action and asking for help from someone who has been there, done that.
Is my business in my list of long term goals?
Why did you want to start your business in the first place?
The reason is more than likely not a short term solution. If you have a goal to scale your business to replace your 9-5, create your own flexible schedule and make your own hours, a long term plan is crucial. It can be beneficial to receive tips and advice from someone who has been in your shoes and mastered a way to move forward so you don’t spend time down dead end roads.
Will the investment help me reach my goals?
It took me 4 years to invest in my business and hire a coach that I needed but do you know what happened when I hired a coach?
- I got the support I needed
- I had accountability
- I met more women with the same goals as me which motivated me to level up!
- I launched a mentorship
- I created a course
- I doubled my income
- I said NO to not-so-ideal clients and started to attract dream clients
- I created better boundaries for myself and my business
I wish I had invested in a coach so much sooner. I often wonder how much faster I could have scaled if I had someone who had done it before to help me fast track to success, but I am so grateful for my coach and all she has taught me and continues to teach me.
