Let’s be honest—Summer with kids is a whole different kind of full-time job. Between the snacks, the sunscreen, camp drop offs/pickups and the late nights, your business likely took a backseat because you chose to be fully present for your family, even when time, space, and especially when energy was limited. As we prepare for the kids to go back to school and the house will be (relatively) quiet, there’s a small but mighty window of opportunity opening up just for you.
This is your time to switch gears—from mom mode to CEO mode. Let’s redefine what “back to business” looks like- You might be feeling a little rusty. Maybe you don’t know where to start. Or maybe you’ve got ALL the ideas and zero direction. That’s okay. You don’t need a perfect plan—you just need a pause, a reset, and a few intentional moves to get your business momentum back. Here’s how I plan to ease the transition:
1. Start small (but start now)
You don’t have to rebuild everything overnight. Momentum comes from taking small steps, not trying to do it all at once. Choose one simple action:
2. Reclaim your CEO mindset
Take a moment to remember why you started your business. What excites you? What did you hope it would bring to your family and your life? That original vision still matters and it’s worth revisiting. You’re not just running a business; you’re building something meaningful between school runs and grocery trips. Every little step you take now gets you closer to those goals, and you’re doing an amazing job juggling it all!
3. Set boundaries that work for you
Shifting into CEO mode means creating clear boundaries around your work time. This could look like setting up a dedicated workspace, carving out specific hours that fit your family’s schedule, or turning off distractions when you need to focus. Remember, boundaries aren’t about being strict—they’re about giving yourself the space to be fully present both in your business and at home.
4. Set goals for the next 90 days
Ok, I know it’s early and we don’t want to talk about it because the kids are just starting school and that’s a whole feat on its own- Let’s talk about the holidays. The next few months fly by fast—and with the holidays around the corner, now’s the perfect time to set clear, realistic goals for your business. Break down what you want to achieve before the busy season hits, whether it’s launching a new product, reconnecting with your audience, or streamlining your processes. Having a solid plan helps you stay focused and avoid last-minute stress, so your business can thrive without the overwhelm! What can you accomplish in the next 90 days??
