There’s no handbook for perfectly juggling motherhood and running a business—trust me, no one has it all figured out. Some days, you might feel like you’re crushing it, and others, that nagging voice of self-doubt creeps in, making you question if you’re doing enough or if you even belong in the entrepreneurial world. This sounds all too familiar so believe me when I say- you’re not alone.
Many moms who wear both hats of caregiver and business owner struggle with these feelings and I’m here to remind you that it’s okay to feel this way! Here are a few tips for silencing that inner critic, celebrating your wins, and recognizing just how capable you truly are.
Self-doubt and mom guilt can feel endless. You might question your decisions, worry if you’re giving enough to your kids, or wonder if your work is worth the time you’re spending on the computer at all times of the day or away from family. It’s exhausting and overwhelming, but here’s the truth: these feelings do not define your worth. Finding balance isn’t about achieving perfection. I’ve learned that it’s more about discovering that sweet spot that works for you and your family during that particular season. Some days will lean more toward work, and other days toward home, and that’s OKAY. You’re doing more than you realize, and it’s okay to give yourself grace. Remember that you’re enough, even on the days it doesn’t feel like it.
You’re more qualified than you think, even on the days you feel like an imposter. That nagging doubt doesn’t erase the skills and experience you’ve gained—it just means you care deeply about doing your best.
Think about how far you’ve come in your business using the skills you’ve honed through motherhood and entrepreneurship. Every late-night problem you’ve solved, every plate you’ve balanced, and every hard decision you’ve made has built resilience, multitasking, and problem-solving skills that others admire. These aren’t just ordinary traits; they’re your strengths! You’ve already accomplished so much—even while questioning yourself at times—do you think someone would have hired you if you weren’t already capable and qualified? Sometimes others see your talent and potential long before you do. It’s time to believe in yourself as much as they believe in you.
Building confidence as a mom and entrepreneur starts with the little things. Celebrate the small wins, whether it’s meeting a deadline, solving a tough parenting moment, or simply getting through a busy day. Remind yourself of your strengths and all the challenges you’ve already overcome. When self-doubt creeps in, pause and reframe your thoughts. Instead of focusing on what you feel you lack, recognize everything you bring to the table and how far you’ve come. Confidence isn’t something you find all at once; it’s something you build step by step. It’s important to believe in the value you create, both for your family and your business.
